Mumbai Local Train Block From Tomorrow: CSMT-Kurla Services To Be Hit For 9 Days | Check Timings, Affected Routes Published By, Edited By Last Updated: June 16, 2026, 08:35 IST The work involves launching girders on the Sion Road Over Bridge as part of the 5th and 6th line expansion on one of Mumbai's busiest rail corridors. Central Railway has confirmed that Mail and Express trains will largely remain unaffected. Central Railway’s Mumbai Division will operate special traffic and power blocks between Matunga and Kurla from June 17 to 25, suspending suburban services between CSMT and Kurla during midnight hours each night. The blocks, lasting two to four hours per session, are part of the ongoing 5th and 6th line project between CSMT and Kurla. According to a press release issued by Central Railway, the blocks will be implemented exclusively during late-night hours to minimise passenger impact.
The work involves launching girders on the Sion Road Over Bridge (Kalyan end) — a key infrastructure milestone in the capacity expansion drive on one of Mumbai’s busiest rail corridors. When Exactly Will The Blocks Be In Effect? The midnight blocks will run across multiple nights with varying timings, per Mid-day’s report • June 17–18: 01:10 hrs to 03:10 hrs • June 18–19: 00:45 hrs to 03:45 hrs • June 19–20 and 20–21: 01:10 hrs to 02:40 hrs • June 21–22 to 24–25: 01:10 hrs to 03:10 hrs The affected section spans Matunga to Kurla across all lines. Which Trains Will Be Cancelled Or Rerouted? Suburban services between CSMT and Kurla will be suspended for the duration of each block. Specific cancellations include • CSMT–Thane local (00:24 hrs) — cancelled on June 17–18 and from June 19–20 onwards • Thane–CSMT local (04:04 hrs) — cancelled on June 17–18 and from June 19–20 onwards On June 18–19, additional changes apply: the Badlapur–Parel, Khopoli–Parel, and Badlapur–CSMT locals will be short-terminated at Kurla, while the Thane–Kurla local will be extended up to CSMT.
Will Mail And Express Trains Be Affected? Central Railway has confirmed that Mail and Express trains will largely remain unaffected. The sole exception is Train No. 11020 Konark Express (Bhubaneswar New Jn–CSMT), which will be regulated at Kurla station between 03:28 hrs and 03:45 hrs on the affected night of June 18–19. Why Is Central Railway Undertaking These Blocks? The blocks are part of the infrastructure upgrade to add 5th and 6th lines between CSMT and Kurla — an expansion aimed at increasing suburban rail capacity and improving safety on the corridor. Passengers have been urged to plan travel accordingly and cooperate with the railway administration.
