(Source: Reuters) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has hailed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States and described it as a potential source of national pride for Iran if fully implemented. In a post on X, Pezeshkian praised the officials and institutions involved in the talks that led to the agreement and also added that a final agreement is “yet to take shape." “What has been agreed upon is an important step toward stopping the war and beginning negotiations, and a final agreement has yet to take shape. The Islamic Republic of Iran has prepared itself for all options, and the government’s focus—with or without an agreement—is sincere service to the people. The Iranian nation has learned from its martyred Imam not to submit to humiliation," Pezeshkian wrote on X.
Masoud Pezeshkian (@drpezeshkian) June 15, 2026 In another post, Pezeshkian stated: “The memorandum of understanding that has been drafted is the result of months of dialogue and persistent follow-ups in this regard, and if all its provisions are properly implemented, it can be considered a document of pride for the country." He went on to thank key figures who contributed to the process. “I deem it necessary to thank my brothers, Dr Qalibaf, Araghchi, the members of the Shura Council, and all those who played a role in this path," he added. تفاهمنامه تدوین شده، حاصل ماهها گفتوگو و پیگیریهای مستمر در این زمینه است و اگر همه مفاد آن بهدرستی عملیاتی شود، میتواند سندی افتخارآمیز برای کشور تلقی شود.لازم میدانم از برادرانم آقایان دکتر قالیباف، عراقچی، اعضای شعام و همه کسانی که در این راه نقش داشتند تشکر کنم.
— Masoud Pezeshkian (@drpezeshkian) June 15, 2026 The president’s comments come as both Washington and Tehran prepare for a formal signing ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. The MoU sets out a framework for future engagement between the two countries and links sanctions relief to Iran’s compliance with nuclear verification measures and broader regional security commitments. US President Donald Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, said the full text of the memorandum would soon be made public. “I think pretty soon. I want it to be released because it’s a very powerful document," Trump said, adding that publication would likely occur after the formal signing ceremony expected later this week. According to CNN, a senior US administration official confirmed that the complete text of the agreement would be released within 24 to 48 hours, stressing the administration’s commitment to transparency. Although both sides have already digitally signed the document, officials from Iran and the United States are now working towards finalising the agreement at a formal signing ceremony scheduled to take place in Geneva on Friday.
