The Enforcement Directorate interrogated the Trinamool Congress General Secretary for eleven hours in connection with the West Bengal primary school teacher recruitment scam. The investigation centres around alleged irregularities in hiring practices, with scrutiny falling on a company owned by the political leader. Following the extensive questioning, the leader accused the central agency of political vendetta, claiming there is a sustained effort to intimidate, weaken, and suppress opposition forces in West Bengal.
The leader further alleged that attempts are being made to silence dissenting voices and break the political party, especially as Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly are leaving the party following recent electoral losses. In addition to the Enforcement Directorate probe, the leader is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department for another round of questioning in a separate case.
The ongoing investigations and subsequent allegations highlight the intensifying political blame game currently unfolding in the state.
