'It's Not Like Obama Document': Trump Says US-Iran Peace Deal Text To Be Released 'Pretty Soon' Published By, Last Updated: June 15, 2026, 22:39 IST The remarks come after Washington and Tehran reached a breakthrough agreement designed to halt hostilities and restore stability in the region. US President Donald Trump said that the text of a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict would be made public “pretty soon," likely after Friday. Responding to a question on when the agreement would be released, Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the G7 Summit that he wanted the document to be made public because it represented a significant diplomatic achievement.
“I think pretty soon. I want it to be released because it’s a very powerful document. It’s not like the Obama document, which was just a terrible document," Trump said, adding, “So probably pretty soon. I would say sometime after Friday." The remarks come after Washington and Tehran reached a breakthrough agreement designed to halt hostilities and restore stability in the region. A senior US official told Reuters that the memorandum was signed by Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. According to the official, the full details of the agreement are expected to be released within the next 24 to 48 hours, while technical discussions on implementation are set to begin later this week.
Trump said the agreement had already begun producing tangible results, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints. “The deal’s all signed and the Strait is already partially open," Trump said alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, continuing, “They are doing a little hunting for a couple of mines that they’ve already found. But it’s essentially that ships are starting to go out. Now on Friday, it’ll be completely open." The deal provides for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran. A formal signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Geneva on June 19 and will be attended by Vice President Vance.
