Labhu Ram, a 2004 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Special Officer to Home Minister Priyank Kharge, a special post created for the officer. Retired IPS officer Kempaiah was an advisor to then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Labhu Ram, who was IGP (Central Range) was appointed as the State Intelligence Chief in April 2026, in an overnight change shunting out S. Ravi from that post.
