Nandyal MP and TDP national general secretary Dr. Byreddy Shabari and District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya on Monday (June 15, 2026) distributed free assistive devices worth ₹4 crore to over 3,000 beneficiaries. Assistive devices such as wheelchairs, tricycles, battery-operated cycles, hearing aids, and walking sticks were distributed to eligible persons with disabilities. These devices were provided under the Government of India’s ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shabari stated that it was a privilege to distribute assistive devices worth ₹4 crore to over 3,000 differently-abled individuals and senior citizens in Nandyal district—a milestone achieved for the first time in the State. She added that this was in fulfilment of the promise made by Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh during his ‘Yuva Galam’ padayatra before the elections. She said that while some past governments treated the differently-abled as a burden, the Telugu Desam Party government views them as a responsibility and stands firmly for their development.
She recalled that the late TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao had established a corporation for the differently-abled and provided them with house sites and permanent housing. The MP further said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has increased the pension for the differently-abled from ₹2,000 to ₹6,000 and also ensured that it is delivered to their doorsteps on the first of every month. She assured that a new community hall for persons with disabilities would be constructed in the district headquarters using MP funds and with the cooperation of the District Collector.
She urged persons with disabilities to call her whenever a need arises, assuring them that she would find solutions to their problems.
