Iqbal Hussain, Ramanagara MLA, has been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after he complained of chest pain late on Sunday (June 14). Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who met the legislator at the hospital on Monday (June 15) morning, said that the legislator was doing fine and that he would be moved to a different hospital for comprehensive checks later this week.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by former State Legislative Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar. Vydehi Superspeciality Hospital Medical Administrator Humera S. told The Hindu that the MLA had come for a check-up and his condition is stable.
Hussain is seen among the strongest supporters of Mr. Shivakumar, and both hail from Bengaluru South district and represent neighbouring constituencies. Hussain defeated Nikhil Kumaraswamy,
son of Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, in the 2023 Assembly elections.
