Jain monk of the Digambar sect Muni Veersagar Maharaj is all set to reach Hubballi on Wednesday after covering 1,500 km on foot along with seven other monks. According to a release issued by member of the governing body of Digambar Jain Samaj, Hubballi, Shantinath Hothpeti, the monk began his foot march at the Jain pilgrimage centre of Nimmavar located on the banks of the Narmada in Madhya Pradesh last year.
After sojourns at various places in various States, the Jain monk has now entered the border of Karnataka along with seven other monks. He will reach Hubballi at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The Digambar Jain Samaj will welcome the monk at Sarvodaya Circle in Keshwapur of Hubballi with mangala kumbha and traditional music.
The Jain monk will be taken to Shantinath Samskrutika Bhavan on Mahaveer Galli in a colourful procession, the release said. The Jain monks will stay in
Hubballi for four days during which various religious programmes and rituals will be held. The group of monks will then proceed to Bengaluru for their Chaturmasya programme.
