Bengaluru: School teacher among two killed in separate road accidents

A 54-year-old school teacher was killed after falling from a bike taxi in J.P. Nagar on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Radha, a resident of Arakere and a teacher at a private school. The bike taxi rider, a young woman, sustained minor injuries and is out of danger. According to the police, Radha had booked a bike taxi to travel from Nagarbhavi to her residence in Arakere. At around 8 p.m., while passing near Nandini Junction on the 24th Main Road in J.P. Nagar, she reportedly lost balance and fell from the moving scooter, suffering fatal injuries since she was wearing a ‘half helmet’.
She succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital. Meanwhile, the bike taxi rider left the spot. The J.P. Nagar Traffic Police have registered a case against the bike taxi rider and issued a notice to her to appear for questioning. In another incident, a 34-year-old scooter rider was killed and his pillion rider injured after a garbage lorry allegedly hit their two-wheeler near Sirsi Circle in Chickpet on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Satish, a resident of Padarayanapura, while the injured pillion rider, Praveen, is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital and is said to be out of danger. According to the police, Satish was riding a scooter with Praveen riding pillion and was on his way to work at around 9.40 a.m. As they approached Sirsi Circle, a speeding garbage lorry allegedly rammed into the scooter. The impact threw both riders onto the road.
Satish reportedly came under the wheels of the lorry and died on the spot, while Praveen sustained injuries. The Chickpet Traffic Police registered a case and have detained the lorry driver.
