The former Mayor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), Firhad Hakim, was spotted alongside Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at an official event held at the Kolkata Corporation. His presence triggered speculations about whether another Trinamool Congress (TMC) big shot and a close aide of Mamata Banerjee would switch sides. The event marked Adhikari’s first visit to the KMC after assuming power as the Chief Minister. As Prime Minister Modi is set to arrive in Kolkata later this week, Adhikari called all the existing councillors to accelerate the preparations for the mega event.

Rebel TMC MP Mala Roy, who earlier held the post of the KMC Chairperson, was also seen sitting on the stage. Roy is presently the councillor of Ward No. 88 in Kolkata. HAKIM RESIGNED FROM KOLKATA’S MAYORAL POST EARLIER A few days back, Hakim announced his resignation from the post of Mayor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He said that he was unable to work in the evolving political scenario. "I am not able to work the way I used to do earlier.
That's why I have resigned. Otherwise, it would have been an insult to the chair I held. My best wishes to those who will take over," Hakim, a four-time TMC MLA from Kolkata Port, said. The 67-year-old TMC leader urged Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to fulfil the expectations of the people. Ends
