The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Cell has busted a major cybersecurity fraud linked to the NEET portal, arresting a 19-year-old accused, Navinkumar Shankar Prasad Yadav, from Gaya, Bihar. The accused allegedly targeted over 350 NEET aspirants by using brute force techniques to crack weak passwords and gain unauthorized access to candidate accounts.
He modified bank details to divert fee refunds of seventeen hundred rupees per student into his own bank account, affecting around 150 students. Following details shared by the Testing Agency, the accused was tracked down. Consequently, the NTA has strengthened portal security measures, including implementing two-factor authentication to protect student data.
