A Gurugram couple alleges a child swap at a Greater Kailash IVF center after a DNA test failed to confirm maternity and paternity of one of their newborns. GURGAON: A Gurgaon couple has alleged that one of their babies was swapped during an IVF procedure after a DNA test reportedly showed that neither parent was biologically related to the child.According to news agency ANI, complainant Rahul Rathore said the IVF treatment was carried out at a fertility clinic in Greater Kailash, Delhi. He claimed that egg retrieval and semen collection took place on February 13, while embryo transfer was performed on May 14.Rathore said the couple became suspicious after the birth of their twins on January 5, alleging that one of the babies did not resemble family members.
The couple subsequently conducted a DNA test, which, he claimed, failed to establish either maternity or paternity for one of the children.He told ANI that he first approached the hospital on January 7 and later informed the Union health ministry in February. The matter was also taken up with the State Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Department in March, but he alleged that no action had been taken.Rathore further claimed that despite approaching police and authorities for nearly three months, an FIR was not registered until a court intervened."For about three months, we kept approaching the authorities and the police department to get an FIR filed, but it was not registered.
Finally, the court intervened, and the FIR was filed under court direction. However, the very next day, a stay was placed on the investigation," he told.According to the complainant, an investigation was opened on June 5. He alleged that despite appearing for court proceedings twice and submitting documents and evidence, authorities continued to focus on procedural compliance rather than the substance of the complaint.Rathore also claimed that the absence of clear guidelines was affecting the probe and complicating what he described as a straightforward matter. He maintained that the family was seeking only a fair investigation into the allegations.Questioning objections to the DNA test, Rathore said the couple had spent around Rs 5-6 lakh on the IVF process and undergone multiple medical procedures."It is my right and my awareness.
If I am feeling something is wrong, I will get it checked from my end," he told ANI.The allegations have not been independently verified, and authorities have not yet publicly commented on the claims. The matter remains under investigation.
