An India Today ground report details the opening day of commercial flights at Noida International Airport. IndiGo operates the first flights to destinations like Lucknow and Bengaluru, with Air India Express and Akasa scheduled to follow. The airport features Digiyatra-enabled contactless entry, boarding pass generation, and luggage drop. Currently operating domestic flights, the international terminal awaits clearance.
The facility includes a prayer room, a children's area, and a display documenting its five-year transformation from farmland. The airport is CAT III-enabled to handle high fog conditions during winters, similar to Delhi's IGI Airport. The infrastructure development includes cargo facilities and an upcoming MRO sector, which will create job opportunities in Western Uttar Pradesh.
Farmers whose land was acquired for the airport project are among the passengers on the inaugural flight.
