The Forward Seamen's Union of India has demanded a compensation of five million dollars each from US President Donald Trump for the families of three Indian sailors killed in an alleged US Tomahawk missile strike on the vessel MT Satbello. The union also raised the death of another sailor on the MT Celestial due to a lack of medical attention. The union supports the recent US-Iran peace deal and the end of the naval blockade but seeks compensation for the slain seamen.
The peace agreement, set to be signed in Geneva by Trump and Vice President JD Vance, authorizes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that military options remain if talks fail. Meanwhile, 18,000 Indian seamen remain stuck in the Gulf region. The geopolitical landscape in West Asia has changed over the past four months, with Iran now demanding reparations and verifying terms before finalizing agreements with the United States.
