The Chengalpettu Family Court has adjourned the hearing of the divorce petition filed by the Chief Minister's estranged wife to August 7. The estranged wife had filed the divorce petition alleging several grounds against the Chief Minister. The case had previously surfaced ahead of the elections in Tamil Nadu, prompting discussions and speculations.
While some termed it politically motivated, the Chief Minister maintained that it remains a personal family matter and requested that it should not be highlighted with other connotations. During the latest hearing, both parties reportedly sought to appear via video conferencing, but the court dismissed the petition and deferred the proceedings to August 7.
