Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) State general secretary M. Yuvaraja, a prominent face of the party in Erode district, on Monday (June 15, 2026) announced his resignation from the party. In a letter addressed to party president G.K. Vasan, Mr. Yuvaraja expressed gratitude to the party leadership and cadre for the opportunities extended to him during his political career.
He said the decision to leave the party had been taken after careful consideration of the prevailing circumstances. It may be noted that the TMC(M) on Sunday (June 14) decided to exit the Democratic Alliance (NDA), hoping to focus on strengthening the party. Recalling his political journey, Mr. Yuvaraja credited Mr. Vasan with identifying and nurturing his leadership abilities.
โIf I am recognised in the political arena today, it is because of the trust, encouragement, and guidance provided by Mr. Vasan,โ he said. Yuvaraja thanked the party leadership for supporting his election as Tamil Nadu Youth Congress president (when Mr. Vasan was in the Congress) on two occasions and for later entrusting him with responsibilities in the Tamil Maanila Congress, including those of State Youth Wing president and State general secretary.
He also acknowledged the opportunities given to him to contest the Assembly elections in 2011, 2021, and 2026, though he was unsuccessful in all three contests. Yuvaraja said: โI am leaving the party, but not my gratitude, respect, or loyalty.โ
