Germany delivered a superb attacking performance to defeat World Cup debutants Curacao 7-1 in their opening FIFA World Cup 2026 Group E match in Houston. The show began with Felix Nmecha opening the scoring in the sixth minute for Germany. Curacao made history, scoring their first-ever FIFA World Cup goal in the 21st minute to equalize, courtesy of Livano Comenencia. Centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck restored Germany's lead in the 38th minute, while Kai Havertz scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 at half-time.
Jamal Musiala scored Germany's fourth in 69 seconds into the second half. Left-back Nathaniel Brown slammed the fiftth and substitute Denis Undav netted the sixth. Kai Havertz netted his second to make it seven for Germany, reigniting memories of the nation's historic 7-1 win over Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.
