(IMAGE: PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations and claims circulating on social media regarding donation boxes linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. The SIT has been formed following a request from the Trust, which sought an independent inquiry into the matter and asked the state government to examine the allegations in detail.
According to the government, the investigation team comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police Kiran S. and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan Kumar. Officials said the SIT has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive inquiry and submitting its report to the state government. The Trust had recently written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressing concern over what it described as rumours and allegations being circulated on social media regarding donation boxes at the temple complex. According to the Trust, an impartial investigation is necessary to verify the facts and address claims being made in the public domain. The Trust also alleged that the reports and claims being circulated were aimed at damaging its image and hurting the sentiments of devotees associated with the Ram temple.
Taking note of the request, the state government constituted the three-member panel with immediate effect. Officials said the SIT will examine all aspects of the matter before submitting its findings to the government.
