Jagan alleges blocking of YSRCP’s Facebook page

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has alleged that the government is suppressing the voice of the people and the opposition party. In a social media post, Mr. Jagan alleged the YSRCP’s Facebook page was made inaccessible in India after the takedown of its official Instagram handle earlier this year.
This was nothing but an attack on democratic values and freedom of expression, he stated, claiming that the YSRCP was only revealing facts, exposing the government’s failures and corrupt practices, and bringing to light issues that affected the people. Jagan said silencing an opposition party’s official handles sets a dangerous precedent and it was most undemocratic.
He alleged that the government was filing cases against those questioning it on expenditure profligacy associated with Amaravati capital development, irregularities in the DSC process, TTD ghee tenders, and other matters of public importance and called it a disturbing pattern. “We will challenge these unfair actions through every legal and constitutional avenue.
No intimidation, censorship or misuse of institutions can silence the voice of the people. We remain committed to holding those in power accountable and defending the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression,” Mr. Jagan asserted.
