A 22-year-old private firm employee was allegedly murdered by her male friend at a rented house in Bengaluru’s Tulasinagar area under the Byadarahalli Police Station limits. The deceased has been identified as Bhavani S., who, after her graduation, was residing in a rented accommodation, while also working at a mobile phone shop in Tigalarapalya. According to a complaint filed by her father, Srinivas, the family was informed on Saturday (June 13) morning after relatives noticed photographs of Bhavani with a young man circulating on social media.
Repeated attempts to contact her over the phone went unanswered, prompting the family to alert the house owner and the neighbours. When locals checked the residence, the door was locked from the inside, and there was no response. Suspecting that something was wrong, they informed the police. By the time Bhavani’s family reached Bengaluru from their native place, the neighbours and police had forced open the door and had entered the house. Inside, Bhavani was found dead on the floor, while a man identified as Chandrashekar was found unconscious but breathing.
A strong smell of a suspected poisonous substance was reportedly emanating from the room and from the bodies. Chandrashekar was shifted to a hospital for treatment. In his complaint, Srinivas alleged that Chandrashekar had been in a relationship with his daughter for some time. The family had recently begun searching for a groom and making arrangements for her marriage. According to the complaint, Chandrashekar had objected and had allegedly threatened Bhavani against marrying another person. The complainant alleged that Chandrashekar came to Bhavani’s residence on Saturday with the intention of killing her.
He then strangled her to death, and later attempted to destroy the evidence and end his own life by consuming or applying a poisonous substance. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Chandrashekar on charges of murder and are continuing their investigation. The authorities are awaiting medical and forensic reports to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
