In the 10th annual convocation of Ramaiah Medical College, a constituent institution of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS), a total of five postgraduate students were conferred with gold medals, six with silver medals, and 20 were conferred with academic achievement endowment awards.
Speaking on the occasion, M.R. Jayaram, Chancellor, RUAS, emphasised that medical professionals must possess knowledge beyond medicine, including an understanding of human nature and society. He highlighted India’s rich Ayurvedic heritage, describing Ayurveda as the “fifth veda” and as an invaluable contribution to healthcare.
The chief guest’s address by David L. Reich, president of Mount Sinai Hospital and chief clinical officer of Mount Sinai Health System, praised the visionary
leadership of the late M.S. Ramaiah, “who foresaw India’s educational and healthcare needs decades ago and established institutions of excellence”.
