Panic gripped Maharashtra’s Wasim district after four members, belonging to the same family, were found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday, prompting a police investigation. As per the preliminary details, the police suspect a case of mass suicide. The harrowing discovery came to light when locals spotted the body of 35-year-old Santosh Tukaram Bakal hanging from an electricity tower in a local field. The horror escalated shortly after when the bodies of a woman and two young children were seen floating in a well just a short distance away from the tower.
Read Full Story Shocked villagers immediately alerted the local police, who rushed to the scene. Using a makeshift cot, the police and locals retrieved the three bodies from the well. They were subsequently identified as Santosh’s wife and his two innocent children. The police conducted an initial spot assessment and dispatched all four bodies to the government hospital in Malegaon for post-mortem examination. Detailing the incident, senior cop Imran Pathan stated that they were alerted around 4.00 pm by the village Police Patil regarding the suspected suicide.
"Preliminary investigations suggest this could be a case of mass suicide," Officer Pathan remarked. "However, given the gravity of the situation, we are investigating the matter from all angles to determine whether this was indeed a suicide pact or if there is any foul play involved. We are currently awaiting the post-mortem reports." A deep gloom has descended over Tivli village (the place of occurrence) as authorities continue their investigation to uncover the exact cause behind this devastating family tragedy.
