Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday pitched India as a solutions hub and an emerging force in global innovation, saying the country is moving away from being a consumer of technology to a contributor of solutions. Speaking at the inauguration of 'Bharat Innovates' in Nice, France, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi said innovation and inclusion were not at odds with each other. "For thousands of years, India has shaped the progress of humanity through its contributions to medicine, yoga, mathematics and science," he said. INDIA'S PUSH FOR INNOVATION The Prime Minister said his government had taken several steps over the past 12 years to build a stronger innovation ecosystem.
He also cited the Atal Tinkering Labs programme in schools as an example of taking innovation to the grassroots. "From easing the patent filing process to incubation networks, from the startup ecosystem to policy support systems, we have strengthened the ecosystem by taking innovation to the grassroots," he said.
