The toddler disappeared while playing in a garden at Ch. Agraharam in Tuni mandal of Kakinada district on June 6. The police registered a ‘girl missing’ case and are trying to trace her.

Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday (June 14, 2026), Inspector General of Police (Battalions) B. Raja Kumari said SDRF teams had been deployed to take up search operations. NDRF Commandant V.V.N. Prasanna Kumar said one team from the Regional Response Centre (RRC) had been pressed into service to search for Gnaneswari. “The 30-member NDRF team will search for the toddler in the creeks, streams and in the forests along with Forest and SDRF officers,” Mr. Prasanna Kumar said.
Aerial surveillance was being carried out with drones, the IGP said.
