The political landscape in West Bengal faces upheaval as the state's Criminal Investigation Department questions key opposition leaders regarding an alleged signature forgery case linked to the appointment of the Leader of Opposition. Simultaneously, the opposition party is grappling with an internal rebellion, prompting major organizational reshuffles, including the appointment of new district and youth wing presidents. Rebel parliamentarians are reportedly preparing to meet the Bengal Chief Minister to discuss their future political course.
Amid this turmoil, the Chief Minister has predicted the complete collapse of the opposition party within a month, criticizing their alleged dynasty politics and corruption. In a separate development, the state government has intensified its crackdown on illegal immigration. The Chief Minister issued a warning to undocumented immigrants, announcing that twelve thousand cases have been registered and around five thousand deportations have been executed as part of an ongoing statewide identification drive.
