Delhi Fire That Killed 3 Was No Accident, CCTV Reveals Chilling Conspiracy Published By, Last Updated: June 14, 2026, 13:12 IST Delhi Police say the Tughlakabad TKD Extension fire was arson, allegedly plotted by Sarita, Niranjan, Rajkumar and a minor girl, killing three and injuring eight. Tughlakabad fire probe deepens as viral CCTV clip emerges. A massive fire that broke out in a five-storey building in the TKD Extension area of Tughlakabad on June 12 claimed three lives and left eight others injured. What was initially believed to be an accidental fire caused by negligence has now been confirmed as a deliberate act of arson, according to Delhi Police. Police said a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after CCTV footage showed a woman entering the building shortly before the fire broke out. The blaze triggered a major rescue operation and caused extensive damage to the building, as reported by ANI.
Minor Girl Allegedly Set Scooty on Fire During the investigation, police apprehended a 17-year-old girl from Navjeevan Camp in Govind Puri. According to Delhi Police, the minor confessed that she had been instigated by Sarita, a 27-year-old woman from Girinagar, Govind Puri. Sarita allegedly provided the minor with petrol and a matchbox and instructed her to set fire to a scooter belonging to Deepak, a resident of the building’s fifth floor, due to a monetary dispute. Police said the trio conspired to carry out the arson attack to settle a personal grudge. What began as an attempt to target a scooter quickly escalated into a deadly fire that engulfed the building, resulting in three deaths and injuries to eight others. Serious Charges Added Delhi Police said serious charges have now been added against the accused, including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, mischief by fire and lurking house trespass. All four accused — Sarita, Niranjan, Rajkumar and the minor girl — have been apprehended. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and determine whether any other individuals were involved. From Suspected Accident to Arson Case The case marks a dramatic turn in the investigation. Authorities had initially treated the incident as an accidental fire, but CCTV footage and subsequent interrogations led investigators to conclude that the blaze was deliberately started. The incident has also raised concerns about fire safety in densely populated residential buildings and the devastating consequences that can result from personal disputes escalating into criminal acts.
