CPI(M) State secretariat member B. Tulasi Das and party Srikakulam district secretary D. Govinda Rao on Sunday (June 14, 2026) asked the State government to release funds for all pending projects in the district, including Vamsadhara phase-2, the linking of the Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers, and the strengthening of the distributary canal network across all mandals.
Addressing a media conference here, Mr. Tulasi Das alleged that the NDA government had forgotten the poll promise it made to farmers of Srikakulam district. He said ₹1,700 crore was needed for the modernisation of the Gotta barrage and for lift irrigation to make optimum use of Vamsadhara water.
Govinda Rao said a new Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and a Cashew Board would benefit tribal people and cashew farmers of the district. He alleged that the government was promoting destructive development by proposing a cargo airport in the Uddanam region and the excavation of rare-earth minerals along the district’s coast.
Party leaders Bhaviri Krishna Murthy, Konari Mohanna Rao and others were present.
