RF Athletics Director Highlights Tejas Shirse's 'Diligence To Recovery, Strengthening' After Historic Show Published By, Last Updated: June 13, 2026, 23:48 IST Reliance Foundation Athletics Director James Hillier expressed his delight with the athlete's feat to clock 13.27s in the men’s 110m hurdles and breach the CWG qualification mark. (X) Indian athlete Tejas Shirse bettered his own national record with a brilliant performance at the Indian Athletics Series-9 in Ludhiana on Saturday, clocking 13.27s in the men’s 110m hurdles. With this timing, Tejas. who is part of the Reliance Foundation, also achieved the tough qualification standard for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, which was set at 13.39s for this event.
Tejas, who has thrived under the tutelage of James Hillier, the Athletics Director at the Reliance Foundation, bettered his previous mark of 13.41s with his latest showing and the coach expressed his delight with the athlete’s feat. “Today Tejas has broken the national record again with an amazing performance of 13.27 and breached the very tough qualification standards set by the Athletics Federation of Indian of 13.39 for the hurdles, a brilliant performance," Hillier began. “A time that would medal in the last three CWGs, so it’s a world class time. Equivalent to the 10.01 mark in the 100m dash," he explained. Hillier heaped praise on the athlete’s dedication to recovery and strengthening on his journey to the record following a series of injury setback.
“But it’s been really tough journey for hime, he’s had some issues with his foot and ankle, due to hitting a hurdle and falling over and that set him back quite a few months," Hillier said. “And he’s been extremely diligent with recovery, with the rehab and strengthening work. Many hours in the gym with the medical team, with the strength and conditioning team," “Getting himself not only back from injury but back as a better athlete and ready to perform." “All that hard work has helped build a foundation for the performance today and we are absolutely delighted as a team. The Reliance Foundation is delighted to have another national record holder, another representative at the CWG" Hillier concluded.
