THE RISING CASES OF RAPE IN UTTAR PRADESH In another case reported in March, a man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman after offering her and her two younger sisters a lift while they were returning from an Eid fair, police said. According to a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the accused, identified as Deepak, persuaded the three sisters to get into his car on the pretext of dropping them home. He then allegedly locked the two younger sisters inside the vehicle and took the elder sister to a secluded place, where he raped her.
