Government school students account for 96.7% of RGUKT admissions

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday released the provisional selection list for admissions to its si year integrated B.Tech programme for the academic year 2026-27. Admissions are being made to the university’s four campuses at Nuzvid, RK Valley, Ongole and Srikakulam. In a statement, RGUKT UG Admissions 2026-27 Convenor S. Amarendra Kumar said the university received 44,104 applications, including 25,406 from government school students, 17,798 from private school students and 900 from other States. A total of 4,040 candidates have been provisionally selected for admission, comprising 3,640 regular seats and 400 seats under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.
Results for special categories will be announced separately. Kumar said this year’s admissions reflect the strong presence of government school students. Of the selected candidates, 3,907 (96.7%) are from government schools, while 133 (3.3%) are from private institutions. Girls account for 2,855 of the selected candidates (70.66%), while boys number 1,185 (29.33%). Bavireddy Divya Teja Sri of ZP High School (Girls), Kollur, in Bapatla district, secured the highest score of 596 marks. Several other candidates scored 595 and 594 marks, indicating intense competition for admission.
Reacting to the results, Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh said the high proportion of government school students among the selected candidates reaffirmed RGUKT’s commitment to nurturing rural talent and expanding access to quality higher education. He congratulated the selected students and wished them success in their academic pursuits. Counselling will be conducted on June 19 and 20 at the Nuzvid and RK Valley campuses, on June 22 and 23 for Ongole campus admissions at RK Valley, and on June 23 and 24 at the Srikakulam campus.
Classes for the new academic year will commence on July 1. Selected candidates have been advised to attend counselling with all original certificates and other required documents, as admissions are subject to verification. RGUKT Chancellor K. Madhu Murthy and Vice-Chancellor M.L.N. Rao also congratulated the selected students and wished them a bright future.
