Four men died due to inhalation of toxic gases and a lack of oxygen inside an unauthorised coal mine in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Saturday. The incident took place in a forestland area near Argada. The group was carrying out mining in a 40-foot-deep mine when the incident happened, according to authorities. After the miners lost consciousness, a rescue team was called in from the Central Coalfields Limited's (CCL) Argada unit.
The men were pulled out of the illegal mine following considerable efforts and were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead. Read Full Story The people who lost their lives have been identified as 25-year-old Dev Kumar Bedia, 26-year-old Dablu Bedia, 26-year-old Kishore Ravani, and 29-year-old Ashish Rajwar. It is suspected that two of them got trapped while extracting coal, and the other two got caught in the same situation when they tried to rescue them.
Satyajit Kumar, general manager of CCL in Argada area, told news agency PTI that the incident site is located outside the command area of the public sector company. All four bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, said local SHO Naveen Prakash Pandey. "Prima facie, it appears that they died due to oxygen deficiency inside the mine.
