The deceased were identified as Girraj (80), a resident of Farso village under Bayana police station in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, and Pritam (65) of Seva Kurwariya village.
Both died on the spot, police said. Following the collision, locals and police teams launched a rescue operation and pulled out the injured passengers from the damaged buses. They were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Soron and later shifted to the district hospital. Two seriously injured passengers were referred to Aligarh for advanced treatment. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident may have occurred after the driver of the Bharatpur depot bus allegedly dozed off, police said, adding that a detailed probe is underway.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Traffic on the highway was affected for some time following the accident but was later restored, officials said. Ends
