The Mysuru chapter of Young Indians (Yi), an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will host the Young Indian Parliament (YIP) โ 2026 chapter round on June 26 and 27 at Quorum, Mysuru, providing a platform for school students to develop leadership skills and gain first-hand experience of democratic processes. Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Priyanka Sridhar, chair of CII-Young Indians, Mysuru chapter, said that the Young Indian Parliament is a flagship youth leadership programme designed to nurture informed, responsible, and socially conscious future leaders.
She noted that the initiative enables students to understand the functioning of democracy while encouraging meaningful discussions on issues of public importance. โThe programme helps participants develop critical thinking, leadership, public speaking, and policy-making skills, all of which are essential for responsible citizenship,โ she added. Charan, Thalir Vertical chair, explained that the chapter round is open to students of classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 from schools across Mysuru and neighbouring regions. Participants would engage in a simulated parliamentary setting where they would debate contemporary national issues, deliberate on public policies, and present their views through structured discussions.
Highlighting the broader objectives of the programme, Sukrutha, Thalir Vertical co-chair, said YIP aims to instil democratic values and civic responsibility among young people. โBy exposing students to parliamentary procedures and policy discussions at an early age, the programme seeks to cultivate leadership qualities, social awareness, and a commitment to nation-building,โ she said. The organisers have invited schools to nominate enthusiastic and capable students to participate in the event. They believe such initiatives play a vital role in empowering the youth to become informed citizens and future change-makers.
Interested schools and students can register through the online application form provided by the organisers. For further details, participants may contact Charan at 8660219577.
