YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday reiterated his allegation that the Mega DSC was a “carefully engineered policy sketch for a mega scam,” and called it a dark operation by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister N. Lokesh that damaged the lives of meritorious aspirants. In a social media post, the former Chief Minister claimed that Andhra Pradesh had never witnessed such a disastrous recruitment process, wherein every safeguard was dismantled and institutional checks weakened for converting the recruitment into a money-spinning scam.
“It warrants a CBI inquiry,” he said, pointing out that the whole conspiracy began with preparation of question papers (handled by SCERT) and conduct of the examination by the DSC Convener. These responsibilities had traditionally been separated to preserve confidentiality, but the process was compromised, he said. The government sidelined the DSC Convener and entrusted both the crucial responsibilities to the Director of SCERT, thereby undermining the transparency of the examination and paving the way for irregularities, he charged.
Making matters worse, the highly confidential tasks of question paper preparation and its upload were entrusted to outsourcing employees, which created a system vulnerable to abuse, he added. “An outsourcing employee securing top rank in the examination process he is associated with is a direct proof of the paper leak,” the YSRCP chief
alleged. Lack of transparency with respect to declaration of results was also worrisome, with merit lists and merit-cum-roster lists not being placed on the notice boards of the Collectors’ offices, Mr. Jagan said, adding that the most revealing aspect of the scandal was the manner in which the sports quota was dealt with.
