P. Ravikumar, Mandya MLA, on Saturday urged farmers to make effective use of irrigation facilities and take up commercial crop cultivation, stating that they should evolve from being traditional cultivators into agricultural entrepreneurs and job creators. He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day ‘Munnade Mandya Vision-2035’ Agricultural Entrepreneurship Session, Buyers-Sellers Meet, and Farmers’ Bazaar (R-Mart), organised jointly by Mandya First Circle, the Department of Agriculture, and the Bellada Nadu Farmers Producers Companies Federation.
Ravikumar said the session had been designed to equip farmers with skills in processing, value addition, marketing, and financial management, enabling them to move beyond primary production and establish themselves as successful agri-entrepreneurs. He urged participants to make full use of the programme and explore opportunities in agribusiness. On the development initiatives in the constituency, the MLA said around ₹1,500 crore had been invested in upgrading Mandya city, village roads across the district had been repaired, and the Kempegowda Road project had been inaugurated two months ago.
He added that ₹100 crore had been sanctioned for the city’s development and tenders had already been floated, expressing confidence that Mandya’s landscape would undergo a major transformation within six months.
