An Antonov AN-32 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was involved in an accident while landing at Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday, 13 June 2026. The IAF confirmed the incident but stated that further details were not immediately available. In an official statement released through its social media platform X, the Air Force noted that a court of inquiry had been constituted to determine the circumstances and causes surrounding the accident. The statement read: "An IAF An-32 aircraft met with an accident today while landing at Jorhat. A court of inquiry is being constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident." At the time of reporting, additional information regarding the extent of damage or any casualties had not been disclosed.
Following the incident, the Indian Air Force issued a statement, saying, "Jorhat- Today an AN-32 of IAF, met with an accident. Further update will be provided once more details are available". Firefighting operations are underway at the accident site in Jorhat, officials said, after the AN-32 transport aircraft met with an accident at the airbase. The accident reportedly took place when the aircraft was attempting to land at the Jorhat airfield. Emergency response teams have been deployed at the site, and rescue operations are currently underway. The incident occurred only months after a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, resulting in the deaths of both pilots on board.
On 5 March, the twin-seat fighter jet had departed from Jorhat Air Force Station on a routine training sortie. Subsequent investigations revealed that the aircraft had crashed in a remote and mountainous region of Karbi Anglong district, situated approximately 60 kilometres from Jorhat.
