A missing children case from Ranchi's Dhurwa area has triggered concern and political controversy, with twin brothers Karan and Arjun remaining untraced 12 days after their disappearance. The incident comes months after a similar case in January, when a child went missing from the Jagannathpur Khatal area and was later recovered from Ramgarh. According to police, 12-year-old twin brothers Karan and Arjun went missing near Shalimar Market under the Dhurwa police station limits. Their parents lodged an FIR regarding their disappearance on June 1. Read Full Story During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from various locations and found that the two brothers were seen along with another child at Hatia railway station on June 3. After that sighting, no trace of the three children has been found. As days passed without any breakthrough, the families of the missing children alleged that police had failed to conduct an effective search operation.
Karan and Arjun's mother, Dolly Devi, continued searching for her sons and accused the police of not taking sufficient action. On Friday night at around 8 pm, the family received a phone call from The unidentified caller claimed to be calling from Karnataka and informed them that the children had met with an accident and were admitted to a hospital there. The call left the family distressed. Police have launched an investigation into the mobile number and are verifying the information. The case subsequently gained political attention. BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu visited the families of the missing children Karan, Arjun and Shiva and sought details about the case. After meeting the families, Sahu alleged that there were serious contradictions between the statements made by the children's family members and the contents of the FIR. He claimed that the children's mother had narrated a version different from what was recorded in the FIR and alleged that the police had registered the complaint in a manner that suited its own defence.
Sahu demanded the immediate recovery of the three children and called for a fair and serious investigation. He warned that the BJP would be compelled to launch a public movement if prompt action was not taken. The BJP also raised concerns over other missing children cases in the state. Sahu referred to the disappearance of 18-month-old Aditi in Ranchi's Kokar area and alleged that police had failed to trace her as well. Accusing the state government of failing to maintain law and order, Sahu said incidents of child abduction and children going missing were being reported regularly from Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand. He said the BJP stood with affected families and would continue raising such issues. The party announced a torchlight procession at 6 pm on June 13 to demand the safe recovery of the children and protest against alleged police inaction. Sahu appealed to BJP workers and local residents to participate in the march and said the party would decide its future course of agitation if the children were not traced.
