According to the New York Police Department, the teenager was approached by a group of people and became involved in an argument related to the Knicks. Police say one individual from the group allegedly began punching and kicking the teenager repeatedly in the head and body. The victim later suffered a seizure and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The suspect is currently being sought by police on allegations of gang assault. According to local broadcaster WABC, the altercation may have started after a social media content creator began asking fans in the crowd which team they were supporting.

One response — “Spurs in 7" — reportedly sparked tensions, eventually leading to a fight in which the teenager became involved. Police later told WABC that the victim has since stabilised, although the incident remains under investigation.
