Delhi Electricity Bills To Rise: Consumers Using Over 500 Units To Pay 1 To 5.7% More From July Published By, Last Updated: June 13, 2026, 10:57 IST Delhi electricity revised surcharge will be implemented in June, with the increased charges reflecting in consumer bills from July onwards. Electricity Bills May Get Costlier Amid Growing Shift To Captive Power Electricity bills are set to rise for lakhs of consumers in Delhi after the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) allowed power distribution companies to recover higher power procurement costs through an increased Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS), commonly known as PPAC.
The increase will impact consumers differently across the capital depending on their power distributor. According to a Times of India report, consumers in areas served by BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), covering east and central Delhi, are expected to see their bills rise by around 5.7 per cent. In areas served by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL), which includes south and west Delhi, electricity bills are likely to increase by about 3.4 per cent. Consumers under Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) are unlikely to notice any significant change as the PPAC revision for those areas is marginal.
The revised surcharge will be implemented in June, with the increased charges reflecting in consumer bills from July onwards. The move follows DERC’s approval allowing power distribution companies to pass on higher power procurement costs to consumers through the surcharge mechanism.
