A major political development unfolded in Kolkata as a police team from Midnapore conducted a late-night search operation at the residence of a senior Trinamool Congress leader. Arriving at approximately 3 AM, the police, accompanied by central forces, were reportedly searching for the leader's personal assistant in connection with a financial irregularities case registered at the Shalmani police station. The search operation lasted for three to four hours.
Upon learning of the sudden raid, the West Bengal Chief Minister visited the residence and remained there until the police concluded their search and departed. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether any evidence was recovered or if the politician was questioned regarding his aide. The personal assistant has been a close associate of the leader for several years. This incident adds to the leader's legal troubles, as he is already facing investigations in two other cases, including one related to alleged hate speech during elections and another concerning a forged signature at the state assembly.
