The search operation is linked to the municipality recruitment scam, also known as the cash-for-jobs scam. This development coincides with a heavy security presence and searches at Abhishek Banerjee's Kolkata residence.
The action follows the Enforcement Directorate summoning Banerjee on June 15 in connection with the teachers' recruitment scam. ED officials, accompanied by central forces, continue their search operations at the residence of Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra, a known Mamata Banerjee loyalist.
