US-Iran War News: No Nuke Talks Unless Interim Deal Done, Hormuz To Reopen Under Proposed Deal
Iran has outlined its conditions for a proposed peace deal with the United States, insisting that an interim agreement must be implemented before final negotiations
Iran has outlined its conditions for a proposed peace deal with the United States, insisting that an interim agreement must be implemented before final negotiations resume. The Iranian government maintains that it will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz even after the maritime passage reopens, asserting shared sovereignty with Oman. Furthermore, Tehran demands that Lebanon be included in the peace agreement, requiring an Israeli military withdrawal from the region. In contrast, Israel's defence minister has rejected any withdrawal from Lebanon, asserting the freedom to act against threats.
Diplomatic efforts are gaining momentum after the United States halted military strikes, with the American administration expressing confidence that a memorandum of understanding could be signed soon. Pakistan, acting as a mediator, has also indicated that a final agreement is within reach. According to media reports, the proposed performance-based deal would require Iran to dismantle its nuclear programme and end support for proxy groups, while a freeze on Iranian funds would remain until these commitments are fulfilled.
