On June 12, Cabinet Secretary Dr TV Somanathan assessed the preparedness of the Testing Agency (NTA) — which is entrusted with responsibility to conduct standardized entrance examinations — during a meeting with its Director General, Abhishek Singh. During the review, Dr Somanathan discussed coordination, security arrangements, and measures to maintain confidence in one of the country’s biggest entrance tests. ‘Transparent, Secure, Well-Coordinated’ During the review meeting, Dr Somanathan asserted the need for a transparent, secure, and well-coordinated conduct of NEET re-exam, stressing the Centre and states were working closely to ensure the exam is held smoothly. Issuing a stark warning against any attempt to disturb the process, he said: “The full might and weight of the law will fall on any person trying in any manner to distort, disrupt or tamper with the integrity or smooth conduct of the re-examination".

On June 1, the Cabinet Secretary took stock of arrangements with Secretaries of the Central Government and stakeholders. Another meeting was held on June 4 with Chief Secretaries of state governments to review readiness in view of the upcoming exam.
