The United States and Iran are reportedly considering a peace agreement to resolve ongoing tensions in West Asia, but stark differences remain between the draft frameworks emerging from Washington and Tehran. While the US proposal outlines a 60-day ceasefire to negotiate a broader nuclear deal, demanding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and commitment against acquiring nuclear weapons, Iran’s draft, published by Mehr News Agency, calls for an immediate, permanent end to the war on all fronts.
Tehran’s version demands the withdrawal of US forces, a reconstruction package worth at least $300 billion, and the release of $24 billion in frozen funds.
