Road to Mandalpatti upgraded at ₹60 lakh
Access to Mandalpatti, one of the State’s most popular hill destinations and a tourist attraction in Kodagu district, has received a boost with the inauguration
Access to Mandalpatti, one of the State’s most popular hill destinations and a tourist attraction in Kodagu district, has received a boost with the inauguration of a newly developed 4-km road constructed at a cost of ₹60 lakh. The road, built on the directions of Mantar Gowda, Madikeri MLA, was inaugurated on Friday by former Hoddur Gram Panchayat president H.A. Hamsa.
The project was taken up following long-standing demands from residents, villagers, and jeep operators who rely on tourism-related activities for their livelihood. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hamsa urged residents to ensure that no illegal activities take place at the tourist spot and stressed the need to preserve its ecological and tourism value.
He also said that Dr. Gowda had directed officials to undertake immediate temporary repairs to the damaged road leading to Kalur village, which serves public transport buses. Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatane district president Tennira Maina said the project was aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure while supporting hundreds of families engaged in operating tourist jeeps to Mandalpatti.
He said the road was completed over a four-month period. Forest department officials, local leaders, villagers, and tourists were present.
