Three arrested in Hyderabad for manufacturing and selling spurious cotton seeds

Three persons involved in manufacturing and marketing spurious cotton seeds using duplicate packaging resembling that of a reputed seed company were arrested by the Malkajgiri Special Operation Team (SOT) and Trimulgherry police on Friday, June 12. The accused were identified as Yeruva Balashow Reddy alias Shiva Reddy, 32, managing director of Rythu Sampada Seeds, Kaparthi Bejimen, 28, a sales officer, and Donga Srinu, 48, a graphic designer.
The case was registered following a complaint by Solanke Yashwanth Rao, Telangana marketing manager of Narmada Sagar Agri Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat, alleging that Balashow Reddy had illegally printed duplicate cotton seed pouches resembling those of the company and intended to use them for packing and selling spurious cotton seeds without the required approvals and certifications.
Following a tip-off, a joint team intercepted a vehicle at the Bowenpally Vegetable Market Yard. During the search, police found the three accused transporting 12,800 duplicate cotton seed pouches weighing around 2,000 kg resembling those of Narmada Sagar Agri Seeds. Police seized those pouches, the vehicle used for transportation and three mobile phones.
The total value of the seized property is estimated at โน30 lakh. Further investigation is underway.
