District Collector Sumit Kumar on Friday (June 12, 2026) appealed to the people to make yoga an inseparable part of their daily routine, describing it as an essential practice for maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle. Addressing the participants at a ‘Yogandhra’ programme held at the Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple premises in Kanipakam, Chittoor, the Collector said yoga should not be treated as a ceremonial activity observed on a single day but adopted as a lifelong practice.
He said that regular yoga helps improve concentration, self-confidence, and emotional stability while promoting overall health. “In today’s fast-paced world, people often face stress and lifestyle-related health issues. It is important to
dedicate some time daily to yoga,” he said. Sumit Kumar said that yoga, along with regular walking and healthy dietary habits, could help prevent several ailments and contribute to building a healthier
society. He mentioned that a series of yoga programmes is being conducted across villages and mandals in the district until June 21, as part of the lead-up to the 12th International Yoga Day.
