In his first visit to Karnataka after taking charge, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on June 12 afternoon, on his way to Kolluru Mookambika Temple in Udupi district. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader greeted him at the airport with officials of Dakshina Kannada administration.

The Hindu-Bengaluru (@THBengaluru) June 12, 2026 KRV activists stage protest Meanwhile, activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Kumar Shetty faction) gathered for a black flag protest against Mr. Vijay, at Udyavara on Highway 66 in Udupi. They raised slogans against the Tamil Nadu CM and his “anti-Kannada” stance.
The activists were staging a protest against Tamil Nadu’s objection to the proposed Mekedatu Irrigation Project. The protestors were taken into custody by the police before Mr. Vijay arrived in Udupi.
