Speaking on condition of anonymity, sources familiar with the matter said the Ministry of Home Affairs has tasked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with providing security support for the movement of sensitive examination materials, including question papers and post-exam OMR answer sheets.
The Testing Agency (NTA) informed authorities that the re-examination will be held at centres across the country on June 21. Confidential materials will be transported from origin hubs in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad to around 551 hub cities through a nationwide hub-and-spoke logistics network, involving multiple transit stages and a combination of air and road transport, sources said. “The confidential examination materials are to be transported from the origin hubs located in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad to approximately 551 hub cities through a ‘hub-and-spoke’ network comprising origin hubs, Leg-1 hubs, Leg-2 hubs and Leg-3 hubs," the document states, according to sources. The communication, sources said, underscores the need for a two-layer security arrangement throughout the transportation and handling process. Under this plan, CAPF personnel will serve as the second layer of security at identified hubs, airports, helipads, and other critical points in the logistics chain. The ministry has instructed CRPF and CISF to nominate suitable personnel to accompany consignments aboard aircraft and helicopters operating between logistics hubs.
Their details are to be shared with the Ministry of Defence to secure the necessary clearances for travel on Indian Air Force aircraft. Sources said it also lays out protocols for armed personnel travelling on military aircraft. CAPF personnel carrying service weapons will be required to deposit them before boarding, with secure storage arranged and weapons returned upon arrival at the destination. Additionally, the ministry has called for the appointment of dedicated nodal officers at CRPF and CISF headquarters to coordinate with the Department of Posts and the NTA. State-wise Single Points of Contact (SPoCs) are also to be designated to streamline coordination between postal authorities and CAPF field units. The deployment of CAPF personnel for the movement and delivery of question papers is expected to begin June 11 and run through June 19. Reverse logistics covering the collection and transport of OMR answer sheets and other exam-related materials is scheduled to begin on the evening of June 21, following the conclusion of the examination.
