The operation was carried out in connection with an NDPS case registered at the Burari police station. According to police, the ANS team had been tracking the source of narcotics recovered in a case in which an accused, identified as Frank Dashmond, had earlier been arrested.
Acting on specific inputs, officers reached a building in Swaroop Nagar and apprehended a man identified as Romeo alias Sky. A search of his flat allegedly led to the recovery of around 30 grams of MDMA and 1.5 grams of heroin. Police said two African nationals were residing in separate flats on the upper floor of the building. One of them, identified as Stella Pius, allegedly jumped from the balcony of her flat when the police team entered the premises. She was taken to Burari Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Another occupant, identified as Martin Aaron, was detained from a nearby flat. Police said a key recovered from his possession opened a locked room inside Stella’s flat.
During the search, officials allegedly recovered large quantities of chemicals, laboratory glassware, beakers, pipes, weighing machines and sacks containing suspected raw materials. Preliminary findings indicated that the room was being used for manufacturing methamphetamine and storing materials used in the production of synthetic drugs, police said. The North district’s Anti-Narcotics Squad is continuing its probe into the NDPS case, while the Swaroop Nagar police are conducting inquest proceedings into the woman’s death. Police said efforts are underway to ascertain the source, scale and network linked to the suspected drug manufacturing operation.
